Named for the fanciful design of my resin cabochon, this little guy never fails to make me smile! For some strange reason, I've always been drawn to and amused by fish lips - especially the big, fat lips of the Rockfish common in the Pacific Northwest. Every time I visit the Seattle Aquarium, I find myself sketching or photographing them. So I wasn't too surprised that they became the focus of my fishy portraits, albeit in even more fanciful colors than their natural palette.

Then I captured my friend with a combination of right angle weave and peyote stitch, with a surprise freeform back that makes me think of seaweed, waves and kelp forests. I made this piece as a sample for my Capturing Cabochons workshop.
